| Under the adverse impact of the continuous outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the escalation of geopolitical confrontation and the frequent occurrence of supply chain crises in multiple industries, the global economic situation is volatile and downward, which brings"demand contraction, supply shock and expected weakening" triple pressure to our economy and directly affects the security and stability of the manufacturing supply chain. Therefore, building a more resilient supply chain is not only an inevitable orientation to ensure the stable operation of the supply chain, but also follows the objective trend of the current economic development, and has been listed as one of the important objectives of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The current dilemma faced by China’s manufacturing enterprises is:How to efficiently maintain and even enhance the supply chain resilience under the circumstances of limited key technologies and increased competition in supply? In today’s digital era,the enhancement of digital technology for supply chain resilience has gained recognition from some scholars and companies.Technologies such as big data analysis, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence can help manufacturing industries improve the immediate matching of supply and demand information, respond to disruptions in a timely manner through accurate forecasting and rapid planning, and achieve efficient recovery after disruptions. Therefore, digital technology may be the "Silver Bullet" to accelerate the resilience of manufacturing supply chain by making full use of information and reducing uncertainty. However, digital technology is currently used by a few large manufacturing companies. Therefore, the majority of manufacturing enterprises urgently need more advice on the specific utilization of digital technology to enhance supply chain resilience. The existing results revealing the mechanism of the role of digital technology and supply chain resilience are not fruitful, while only a few empirical studies have focused on the role played by supply chain collaboration, which is not a good guide for manufacturing industries to enhance supply chain resilience. Therefore, this study tries to introduce supply chain collaboration and formal contract with the perspective of organizational information processing theory to construct a model of resilience improving path.Using 290 valid questionnaires from the manufacturing industry as the sample, this study uses structural equation modeling method with SmartPLS 3.0 to analyze and verify the following conclusions:(1)Digital technology adoption has a significant positive effect on supply chain resilience;(2)Supply chain collaboration has a significant positive effect on supply chain resilience;(3)Supply chain collaboration plays a mediating role between digital technology adoption and supply chain resilience;(4)Formal contract can positively moderate the relationship between digital technology adoption and supply chain resilience;(5)Formal contract can negatively moderate the role of supply chain collaboration on supply chain resilience. In addition, this study fully integrates the supply chain management practice scenarios of manufacturing enterprises and proposes corresponding supply chain resilience improvement measures to manufacturing enterprises and governments from three aspects:digital technology management, supply chain collaboration management, and contract management. The innovation of this study is firstly to verify the mediating role of supply chain collaboration, which shows that enterprises may not rely on their own adoption of digital technology alone to enhance resilience more effectively, and equally need to pay attention to the collaboration with supply chain members by using digital technology. The second is the discovery of the positive and negative moderating role of formal contract, which provides clear suggestions for firms’ choice of contractual relationships in digital technology adoption and supply chain collaboration. In addition, the multifaceted resilience-enhancing practical countermeasures proposed in this study provide strong support and necessary guidelines for management decisions of enterprises and governments. |
