A Study On Optimization Of International Finished Goods Transportation Routes By Sea For CP Company During The Outbreak

As one of the leading companies for selling fast-moving consumer products in the world,CP Company sustainably insists on making profits by providing excellent products in terms of oral care,personal care,home care and pet nutrition food for each consumer.However,with the impact of corona virus,CP Company has been forced to confront the dilemma of notable sales decline,and because of the unpunctually shipping time,the replenishment of the finished goods from overseas factory is unfortunately affected,causing low stock coverage for sales as well as the loss of many regular sales order.In view of such situation,this thesis is aimed at achieving the minimization of total shipment lead time by formulating the reasonable shipping route that are used to deliver CP’s finished goods,in order to relieve the order cuts and improve the delivery performance.The research object is CP’s Chinese Hong Kong subsidiary in Asia Pacific-Middle East-Africa region,or APMEA,which is the same as its regional headquarter for CP Company.The main content of the thesis is divided into 3 parts: First,the overview of the existing freight routes and current logistics system for CP Company will be presented,and its existing problems will be identified through the investigation and diagnosis of a series of consolidated data while the root cause analysis will be applied to analyze the problem.Second,a linear programming mathematical method will be adopted to establish an optimization model aiming at the minimization of total shipping time with the input of related data to solve by evolutionary solver in Microsoft Excel MSO24-bit,and the majorization result is achieved in the end and the sea route is recommended.Third,through the quantitative comparison of the optimized result with the existing performance,it is verified that the optimized freight route be effective to shorten the total shipping time and resolve the actual problems.Also,a series of managerial suggestions are provided correspondingly.The optimization of container seaway routes is conducive to effectively improve the business performance of CP Company and offer the guidance value in the field of supply chain management.
