| As the lifeblood of national economic development,industry has achieved leapfrog development since the reform and opening up,which has promoted China from a poor and backward agricultural country to the world’s largest industrial manufacturing country.However,it has been accompanied by many resource and environmental problems derived from the extensive economic model of high energy consumption,high investment and low efficiency.Improving energy efficiency is an important way to solve the current energy and environmental problems,It is also the main goal of promoting industrial low-carbon transformation.As a new economic form,digital economy has become a new engine for the high-quality development of China’s economy.It is also a breakthrough to achieve the green transformation and development of industry,and has effectively contributed to the improvement of industrial energy efficiency.It is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the relationship between the development of digital economy and China’s industrial energy efficiency.This paper makes a qualitative analysis on the mechanism of digital economy affecting China’s industrial energy efficiency by combing the relevant literature on digital economy and energy efficiency;The TOPSIS entropy weight method is used to measure the development level of digital economy,and the SBM model including unexpected output super efficiency is used to measure China’s industrial energy efficiency.Based on the data of 30 provinces(cities and autonomous regions)in China from 2012 to 2020,the two-way panel fixed effect model is used to empirically analyze the relationship between digital economy development and China’s industrial energy efficiency.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)Verified that the digital economy has promoted the improvement of China’s industrial energy efficiency;(2)It reveals the mechanism of digital economy to improve industrial energy efficiency by promoting the rationalization of industrial structure and the upgrading of industrial structure;(3)The nonlinear relationship between digital economy and China’s industrial energy efficiency is tested.Through the verification of threshold effect model,under different levels of digital economy development and human capital,the impact of digital economy on China’s industrial energy efficiency has a single threshold effect.When it is less than the threshold,the impact of digital economy on China’s industrial energy efficiency is not significant.After the development level of digital economy exceeds 0.125 and the level of human capital exceeds 12.715,the digital economy has a significant positive impact on China’s energy efficiency,The regression coefficient and significance have different degrees of improvement compared with the full sample model;(4)The spatial spillover effect of digital economy on industrial energy efficiency is further tested.Through the spatial panel model test,it is found that China’s industrial energy efficiency has spatial correlation,and the impact of digital economy on industrial energy efficiency has obvious spatial spillover effect.A regional digital economy can significantly improve the regional industrial energy efficiency.Under the spatial weight matrix of economic distance,the digital economy of adjacent regions has a significant positive spatial spillover effect on the local industrial energy efficiency,while under the spatial weight matrix of adjacent regions,Digital economy in neighboring areas has a significant negative spatial spillover effect on local industrial energy efficiency;(5)The regional heterogeneity and industry heterogeneity of the impact of digital economy on industrial energy efficiency are discussed.There is a positive correlation between digital economy and industrial energy efficiency in the eastern and central regions,and a negative correlation with industrial energy efficiency in the western region,but only the eastern region has a significant impact.Digital economy has a significant positive impact on the energy efficiency of industrial industries.Among them,digital economy has a positive correlation with the energy efficiency of labor-intensive,capital intensive and technology intensive industries,but only technology intensive industries have a significant impact;(6)Put forward policy suggestions to promote the development of digital economy and the improvement of industrial energy efficiency.This paper puts forward policy suggestions from the aspects of strengthening the top-level design of digital economy development,improving the development level of digital economy,optimizing the industrial structure,opening up channels for improving energy efficiency,strengthening the construction of digital talent team,consolidating the intellectual support of industrial transformation,promoting regional coordinated development,and narrowing the gap between digital and energy efficiency development. |
