Research On The Impact Of Digital Economy On The High-quality Development Of China’s Manufacturing Industry

As an important pillar of the national economy,manufacturing plays a vital role in employment,stability of people’s livelihood,high-quality economic development and healthy social development.In recent years.While China’s manufacturing industry has made great progress,it still faces many problems,such as rising labor costs,insufficient technological breakthroughs,low input-output efficiency and insufficient impetus for industrial transformation and upgrading.At present,the development of digital economy is surging around the world and has become a key driving force for the social and economic development of countries around the world.The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has clearly pointed out that it is necessary to give full play to the leading role of the "new engine" of the digital economy and deepen the integrated development of the digital economy and manufacturing.However,the digitalization and intelligent transformation of manufacturing industry promoted by digital economy cannot be achieved overnight.In-depth study of the internal mechanism of the digital economy boosting the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry,and understanding the relationship between the digital economy and the high-quality development of manufacturing industry,spillover effects,etc.,are the core issues to identify new growth points and promote the transformation of the manufacturing industry.This paper uses data related to the digital economy and manufacturing industry in thirty provinces and cities in China from 2011 to 2019,and measures the digital economy development level and the manufacturing high quality development level based on the mechanism of the digital economy on the manufacturing industry,and quantitatively evaluates the current situation of the development of the digital economy and manufacturing industry.Then,this paper constructs a panel regression model to empirically analyze the impact and boosting effect of the digital economy as a whole and various dimensions of the digital economy on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry,and also examines whether there is regional heterogeneity in the impact of the digital economy on the manufacturing industry.The spatial economic attributes of manufacturing development are further considered,and a spatial Durbin model is constructed on the basis of spatial correlation analysis to examine the spatial spillover effect of digital economy on manufacturing development.The study indicates that: 1)during the period from 2011 to 2019,the digital economy development level of each province in China has increased year by year,but there are significant differences between regions.From the perspective of the development level of the digital economy,the rankings are eastern region、central region and western region;in terms of the growth rate of digital economy development,the rankings are central region、western region and eastern region.The digital divide between regions is expected to be narrowed.2)During the period from 2011 to2019,the high-quality development level of the manufacturing industry in most provinces has been significantly improved,and there are also differences in the high-quality development level of the manufacturing industry in various regions.From the perspective of the high-quality development level and growth rate of the manufacturing industry,the eastern region is better than the central and western regions.3)Digital economy can significantly promote the level of high-quality development of manufacturing industry in China.4)The boosting effect of the digital economy on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry gradually weakens from the east to the west.5)At the national level,the five dimensions of the digital economy promote the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry in descending order: digital technology innovation,digital industrialization,industrial digitalization,digital infrastructure,and digital finance.6)In different regions,the promotion of the digital economy to the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry comes from different dimensions.7)The improvement of the development level of digital economy in this region will not only promote the high-quality development level of manufacturing industry in this region,but also promote the high-quality development level of manufacturing industry in neighboring regions.The overall digital economy in China has a significant spillover effect.The above research results not only help to clarify the impact of digital economy on the high-quality development of manufacturing industry,but also help to understand the current assessment and future policy formulation of China’s digital economy and high-quality development of manufacturing industry,which has certain practical guiding value.
