Since the reform and opening up,China has made a series of remarkable achievements in economic development, the economic development of various regions has entered the fast track, and the overall income level of residents has been rising. The widening of the income gap will restrict the construction of the new countryside, affect the harmony and stability of the society, and hinder the realization of common prosperity.E-commerce can reduce transaction costs, improve the efficiency of agricultural production and operation, and expand the coverage of agricultural products market, which has become an important role in poverty alleviation. Many existing research literature and practical cases have confirmed that e-commerce can promote the income increase of rural vulnerable groups from multiple perspectives, but can e-commerce narrow the income gap within rural areas? Are there regional or group differences? What is the mechanism? These questions are worth exploring in depth. Therefore,by studying the impact of ecommerce on the income gap in rural areas, this thesis has important reference significance for ensuring the continuous increase of income of rural low-income groups, narrowing the income gap and realizing common prosperity.Firstly, this thesis constructs a theoretical analysis framework based on existing research results and relevant theoretical foundations, and explores the theoretical logical relationship between e-commerce and rural internal income gap.Secondly,it analyzes the current situation of rural e-commerce development and rural income gap by using macrolevel data, and summarizes the distribution characteristics and development trend of rural e-commerce and rural income gap. Finally, based on the CFPS survey data, this thesis constructs an OLS linear regression model to test the impact of e-commerce on the income gap in rural areas and its mechanism, and puts forward targeted countermeasures and suggestions. The main conclusions of this thesis are as follows:(1)e-commerce has the effect of promoting agricultural income and significantly narrowing the income gap within rural areas.(2)In rural household groups with different regions and different human capital, there is heterogeneity in the impact of e-commerce on the income gap within rural areas. At the regional level, the mitigation effect of e-commerce on the internal rural income gap in the eastern region is significantly weaker than that in the central and western regions; At the micro level, the effect of e-commerce on the intrarural income gap is stronger in the high human capital group than in the low human capital group.(3)Further analysis of the intermediary mechanism shows that e-commerce can increase the probability of farmers’ choice of entrepreneurship and non-agricultural work, thus increasing the income source of rural vulnerable groups and alleviating the income gap within rural areas.Based on the above research conclusions, this thesis puts forward the following four policy recommendations: first, give full play to the positive role of rural e-commerce and accelerate the development and popularization of e-commerce in rural areas;Second, improve the public service system for innovation and entrepreneurship, and support farmers in e-commerce entrepreneurship;Third,we will develop the whole industry chain of agricultural products e-commerce and expand non-agricultural employment channels for farmers.Fourth, increase investment in rural education and information training, and gradually improve the rural education and training system.
