With the rapid development of social and economic activities, the resulting resource shortages and environmental pollution have brought great challenges to the development of a harmonious society in China. In the face of various environmental and social problems,China has continuously strengthened the importance of its sustainable development strategy, actively responding to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and promoting the implementation of measures to enhance the efficiency of resource utilization and advocate for energy conservation and emission reduction.Among them, the concept of recycling and remanufacturing focuses on promoting the use of recycled materials and reducing the emission of pollutants, which can not only reduce negative impacts on the environment but also create higher economic value and play an important role in the sustainable development process of China’s economy. At the same time,to fundamentally alleviate problems such as excessive resource consumption and environmental pollution, the concept of green design has attracted increasing attention in China.Enterprises can improve the efficiency of material and resource utilization through green design, and can also optimize processes or techniques in production, sales, and recycling, reducing energy waste.Green design has become an important means for China to address environmental challenges and build a green,low-carbon,circular economic system. In reality, more and more enterprises are beginning to implement sustainable development strategies, incorporating recycling and remanufacturing and green design into their products and operations. Therefore, under the context of sustainable development,it is of important theoretical and practical significance to discuss and consider issues such as the selection and optimization of sustainable closed-loop supply chain recycling channels with green design considerations.Based on a systematic review and analysis of previous related studies, using methods such as the Stackelberg game theory and reverse induction, this paper considers the impact of different green design strategies on the economic, environmental, and social performance of sustainable closed-loop supply chains, and discusses the optimal recycling mode selection strategy for sustainable closed-loop supply chains.First, under the condition of the manufacturer implementing green design, this paper constructs game models for manufacturer recycling, retailer recycling, and third-party recycling, respectively, analyzes the impact of the green design behavior of the manufacturer on the recycling mode selection and operational performance of the sustainable closed-loop supply chain, and proposes the optimal recycling mode selection strategy for the manufacturer when implementing green design from the perspectives of waste product recycling rate, green design level, and the economic, environmental, and social performance of the sustainable closed-loop supply chain.Second, under the condition of the retailer implementing green design, this paper constructs three single recycling game models and analyzes the impact of the retailer’s green design behavior on the recycling mode selection and operational performance of the sustainable closed-loop supply chain, and proposes the optimal recycling mode selection strategy for the retailer when implementing green design. Finally, under the condition of the third-party implementing green design, this paper constructs a game model for third-party recycling and analyzes the impact of the thirdparty’s green design behavior on the operational performance of the sustainable closedloop supply chain. The differences in the impact of different supply chain members’ green design on the operational performance and recycling patterns of sustainable closed-loop supply chains are further analyzed. The research results of this paper provide theoretical reference and decision-making reference for the optimization of the operation of sustainable closed-loop supply chains and recycling channel selection strategy.
