| Along with the development of globalization, more and more uncertain disasters occurs. In particular, the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 has prompted many scholars pay more and more attention to the study of urban resilience.Economic resilience is one of the most important branches of resilience and contributes to high-quality economic development.Especially the megacities attracts more wealth accumulation and economic competitiveness. As important resource gathering places for many countries and even the world, megacities assume a strong economic mission and function. However, there are few researches on the economic resilience of megacities,so it is of great significance to study the economic resilience of megacities. The adaptive cycle theory attributes the operating mechanism of economic resilience to resilience, recovery, reorganization, and path innovation capabilities.Based on the theories of resilience, vulnerability, adaptive cycle and complex adaptive systems, this paper establishes an index system for evaluating the economic development resilience of megacities in four aspects:economic resistance, economic diversity, economic innovation and economic resilience, and then measures the economic resilience of megacities by using the entropy value method.Considering the availability of data, the data in this paper is collected from 2000 to 2019.The megacities in China in this time period are Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou,Shenzhen,Tianjin and Chongqing. The temporal evolution of economic development resilience of the six cities over the 20-year period is then analyzed through dynamic observation to study the different economic resilience characteristics, and the factors affecting the level of economic development resilience are explored through gray correlation analysis. The study concludes that the overall economic development resilience values of Chinese megacities show an upward trend from 2000 to 2019,but the overall growth level of economic resilience values shows a large decline in 2003,2008,and 2017,indicating that megacities have common deficiencies in risk resistance and recovery ability, and the economic resistance and economic innovation indices have the highest correlation with economic development resilience.According to the economic resilience data performance of the six major cities are divided into three categories,Beijing and Shanghai have shifted to the stage of high-quality economic development, but the high degree of external opening cause a greater risk of resilience, and need to focus on improving the resilience.Guangzhou and Shenzhen have obvious advantages in science and technology innovation.Tianjin and Chongqing have a low urbanization rate and an industrial structure that needs further optimization. On the whole, megacities are less resilient and are prone to large fluctuations due to ripple effects when risks come,so it is more important to take advantage of their diversified industries and technological innovation capability and focus on improving their resilience. Finally,by sorting out and applying the relevant theories, corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are proposed in four dimensions:economic resistance, economic diversity, economic innovation, and economic resilience, with respect to the factors influencing the economic development resilience of Chinese megacities. In order to improve economic hardness, the enhancement and optimization of economic resistance of megacities should be emphasized, the agglomeration advantages of urban agglomerations should be brought into play, big city diseases should be optimized, regional development should be balanced, and urban-rural co-development should be promoted. In order to optimize the economic flexibility, the relevant industrial chain should be improved and the proportion of foreign investment should be controlled. In order to enhance economic strength,high-tech talents should be introduced, intelligent transformation of enterprises should be promoted, and innovative kinetic energy should be stimulated. In order to lengthen economic toughness, social security should be improved and the adaptability of urban subjects should be enhanced. |
