| Against the backdrop of the new development pattern,the express delivery industry,as a backbone of the tertiary industry,plays an essential part in the advancement of both the economy and society.The Chinese government is placing more and more emphasis on the growth of the express delivery industry.In recent years,Chinese express delivery companies have achieved a leapfrog development with a steady growth in business scale.However,the domestic express delivery market is becoming saturated,and the competition in the industry is increasingly fierce.As a result,Chinese express delivery companies are seeking new profit growth points by exploring international markets.However,they face challenges in terms of their low international competitiveness.Meanwhile,international cross-border e-commerce is flourishing and becoming an important choice for foreign trade development,which presents huge opportunities for the internationalization of Chinese express delivery companies.Therefore,Chinese express delivery companies should seize the opportunity and accelerate their synergistic development with cross-border e-commerce.This article focuses on the internationalization development of five major express delivery companies,including SF Express,Shentong Express,Yuantong Express,Zhongtong Express,Yunda Express.First,by analyzing the current status of international cross-border e-commerce and the internationalization development of Chinese express delivery companies,it is concluded that there is a close synergistic relationship between the two,but the global expansion of Chinese express delivery firms is comparatively slow,failing to keep up with the demands of crossborder e-commerce growth.Then,from the perspective of target markets and entry modes,the internationalization path of Chinese express delivery companies is analyzed.It is found that North America and Europe are the key markets to be developed,Latin America,Southeast Asia,and Russia are the markets to be accelerated,and the Middle East and Africa are the markets to be gradually entered.A gradual internationalization path is proposed for Chinese express delivery companies.Based on the above research,the empirical analysis method is used to evaluate the internationalization level of Chinese express delivery companies,identify the main factors hindering their internationalization development,and find that the internationalization level of Chinese express delivery companies is continuously improving,but there is still a certain gap compared with international express delivery giants.The international business service capability and profitability of enterprises need to be continuously improved.Therefore,Chinese express delivery companies should leverage their expanding enterprise scale,strengthen their synergistic development with cross-border e-commerce,continuously optimize their international services,enhance their profitability,and promote their higher level of internationalization development. |
