Research On The Influence Of Digital Economy On The High-quality Development Of China’s Manufacturing Industry

As an important sector of China’s national economy,the manufacturing industry,after years of development,despite its remarkable scale benefits and complete system structure,lacks competitive advantages in input factor structure,product and service quality and research and development ability,and is locked at the low end of the value chain by developed countries.China’s manufacturing industry needs to shift from its scale advantage to its quality advantage,from its extensive development mode to its intensive development mode,from factor-driven to innovation-driven,and climb to both ends of the value chain,so as to achieve high-quality development.The digital economy,which has both technological attributes and economic forms,has gradually penetrated into the field of production and life,triggering all-round and multi-level changes in the economy and society,promoting the innovation,development and application of digital technology,and driving the development and growth of new business forms.The digital economy has become a new growth point of economic development.Important policy documents such as the 14 th Five-Year Plan and the 20 th CPC National Congress Report all call for accelerating the development of the digital economy and promoting the integration of the digital economy and the real economy.In the context of the booming development of digital economy,releasing the driving force of digital economy to enable the high-quality development of manufacturing industry is an important way for the transformation and upgrading of traditional manufacturing industry.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the impact of digital economy on the high-quality development of manufacturing industry.This paper reviews and sorts out the relevant literature on the high-quality development of digital economy and manufacturing industry,and analyzes the function mechanism of digital economy on the high-quality development of manufacturing industry from the perspective of factor endowment,innovation drive and intermediary effect.Using the entropy evaluation method to build digital economy and manufacturing high quality development of comprehensive evaluation system,measure from2013-2020,31 provinces digital economy development index coefficient and manufacturing high quality development index coefficient,according to the national level and four major economic areas respectively show the digital economy development and the development of manufacturing high quality overall situation and regional differences.Using panel data to build the basic model,empirically analyze the impact of the development of China’s digital economy on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry,and test the endogenous and robustness of the basic model.The intermediary variable is added on the basis of the basic model to verify the intermediary effect of digital economy in promoting the service oriented manufacturing industry and then promoting the high-quality development of manufacturing industry.The regulated variable is added on the basis of the basic model to verify the regulatory effect of the innovation ability in the digital economy on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.It can be seen from the measurement results that from 2013 to 2020,the digital economy of all provinces showed an upward trend,the digital economy developed obvious advantages in eastern China,followed by the central region,the western region surpassed the northeast region in 2018,and the development of digital economy in northeast China obviously lagged behind the whole country.The development of manufacturing industry in various regions is affected by the structural adjustment of the supply side and shows certain volatility.The digital economy in the eastern region has obvious advantages,showing a trend of rising fluctuation,followed by the central region,the northeast region shows a downward trend,and the western region shows a slow rising trend.According to the empirical results,at the national level,the digital economy can significantly improve the high-quality development level of the manufacturing industry.From the perspective of the four economic regions,in the eastern,central and western regions,digital economy shows a significant positive correlation on the high-quality development of manufacturing industry,but in northeast China,the influence coefficient of digital economy on the high-quality development of manufacturing industry is not significant and negative.From the analysis of the regulatory effect,we can see that the innovation ability can significantly promote the positive relationship between the digital economy and the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry,and the innovation ability can play a positive regulatory role,releasing the vitality of the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.Analysis of the intermediary effect shows that the service oriented manufacturing industry plays part of intermediary effect in the influence of digital economy on the high-quality development of manufacturing industry.In order to actively adapt to the development background of digital economy to promote the high-quality development of manufacturing industry,the following policy suggestions are put forward: to improve the level of digital infrastructure,improve the hardware facilities to promote the digital development of manufacturing industry;to narrow the gap between the four regions to promote the high-quality development of manufacturing industry in various regions;to leverage the advantages of digital economy to promote the integration of manufacturing industry;to mobilize the enthusiasm of innovation subjects and release the innovation-driven potential;to pay attention to the construction of digital economy talents to adapt to the new demand of talents under the digital background;to cultivate the digital economy development ecology in the whole society and to create a good development environment.
