Against the backdrop of unprecedented changes in the last century,entrepreneurial firms face dramatic fluctuations in the external environment and increasing competition in the marketplace,and their survival and development are fraught with uncertainty.How to achieve innovative results in dynamic situations is a hot topic of interest in the current academic community.Entrepreneurial improvisation is one of the possible responses to rapidly changing contexts and is a novel and scarce scientific research topic.This paper explores the relationship between dual entrepreneurial learning and entrepreneurial firm performance through the lens of entrepreneurial learning,following the logical relationship of ’learning-competence-outcome’.Firstly,it analyses the connotations,dimensions and theoretical studies of the key variables through a review of previous literature on the research variables.Secondly,this paper classifies dual entrepreneurial learning into: exploratory learning and exploitative learning,and entrepreneurial firm performance into two dimensions: financial performance and growth performance.The paper then introduces improvised ability as a mediating variable and divides it into two dimensions: spontaneity and creativity,and introduces a moderating variable,environmental turbulence,in terms of both market turbulence and technological turbulence.Finally,we examine whether improvisational ability plays a mediating role in the role of entrepreneurial learning on entrepreneurial performance and the moderating effect of environmental turbulence in the’improvisational ability-entrepreneurial firm performance’ pathway,in an attempt to unlock the black box of the ’entrepreneurial learning-entrepreneurial firm performance’pathway.This paper uses SPSS23.0 and AMOS24.0 software to empirically test the questionnaire data and draws the following conclusions:(1)entrepreneurial learning is significantly and positively related to entrepreneurial firm performance;(2)improvisational ability plays a partial mediating effect in the relationship between entrepreneurial learning and entrepreneurial firm performance;and(3)environmental turbulence has a moderating effect on the relationship between improvisational ability and entrepreneurial firm performance.From the perspective of organisational learning theory and dynamic capability theory,this paper explores how dual entrepreneurial learning can promote entrepreneurial firm performance by enhancing entrepreneurial improvisational ability,providing a new perspective and reference for related theoretical research and practical application.
