Abstract/Summary:
The current international community is showing a trend of economic globalization and regional integration.Tariff and non-tariff trade barriers have become obstacles to trade. Therefore, countries are actively taking measures to reduce tariff levels and reduce non-tariff trade barriers. But when traditional tariff and non-tariff trade barriers are weakened, the obstructive effect of trade "inefficiency" on trade among countries around the world is becoming increasingly prominent. As an invisible market access barrier,it has attracted attention from regional economic organizations and other parties around the world, and solutions have been sought to eliminate it.Therefore, improving the level of trade facilitation and improving trade efficiency has become the main problem that governments and international organizations need to solve. The RCEP agreement has included promoting trade facilitation as one of the important contents. In this context, this paper plans to take the emerging economies RCEP as the research object, measure the trade facilitation level of RCEP member countries, and explore the impact of trade facilitation level on China’s exports based on the expanded Gravity model, which is of great practical significance for improving the trade facilitation level of RCEP member countries and promoting China’s exports to RCEP member countries. This paper adopts the method of combining theoretical qualitative research and empirical quantitative research, first collects data and collates calculations, and analyzes the development status of China’s export trade to RCEP member countries from four aspects: export scale, export status, export dependence and export structure, and then selects 4 first-level indicators and 13 second-level indicators to construct a trade facilitation calculation system based on the global competitiveness report and previous research. The principal component analysis method was used to calculate the trade facilitation scores of RCEP member countries from 2010 to 2019.By establishing an extended gravitational model, the trade facilitation score is introduced into the model, and the impact coefficient of trade facilitation on China’s exports is calculated from the overall level and the level of first-level indicators of RCEP member countries,so as to analyze the impact of trade facilitation on China’s exports. The research results indicate that overall, the level of trade facilitation among RCEP member countries is not high, and the level of developed countries is higher than that of developing countries. From the overall effect of the regression, the improvement of trade facilitation level in other RCEP member countries has a significant promoting effect on China’s exports. From the regression results of the primary indicators of trade facilitation,it can be seen that the impact of each primary indicator on China’s export trade varies.Among them, finance and e-commerce have the greatest promoting effect, followed by regulatory environment and infrastructure, and customs environment has the smallest promoting effect. Finally, based on the previous analysis, conclusions were drawn and policy recommendations were proposed to promote trade exchanges among RCEP member countries, thereby enhancing China’s exports to RCEP member countries.
