A Case Study On Z Bio Company’s Solving Ethical Predicament

With the vigorous development of China’s economy,the rapid growth of Chinese enterprises,reform and opening up into the deep water zone,extensive economic development ecology has gradually become a history,the new era has put forward new requirements for economic development and enterprise management,among them,the construction of business ethics has become a link that Chinese enterprises need to pay attention to in the process of operation and development.The eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the socialist core values,among which the meaning of "integrity" is applied to the ethical decisions of enterprises.At the same time,chapters on stakeholders,environmental protection and social responsibility were also added and revised in the Code of Governance for Listed Companies of China Securities Regulatory Commission in 2018.In the field of life science,the ethical responsibility of enterprises is particularly important,which not only affects the survival and development of businesses,but also the quality of products directly affects the life,health and safety of patients taking drugs.Model animals are a niche field of life science and belong to the upstream of the CRO industry chain.They play a vital role in providing source data for life science research and new drug development.At present,the market is entering a stage of rapid development.The investment of research in the field of life science and the investment of new drugs continue to increase.The preclinical CRO market grows at a high speed,which gives rise to the large demand for model animals.In this thesis,Z Biotechnology Company in the field of model animals is selected.In the body part of the case,it is described that when the company encountered "ethical dilemma",its founder Li Zong had irreconcilable conflicts with several minority shareholders and some senior executives and employees,and finally parted company with these people.When the company experienced a huge crisis,the founder Li Zong still insisted on the ethical principle of "only making real data" and practiced long-term value-ism,even at the painful cost,to gradually save the company from the mire.Based on Mr.Li’s concept of business ethics,Z Company turned crisis into opportunity and embarked on a new road of development.In the case analysis,this thesis relies on entrepreneurial ethical dilemmas,ethical decision theory,long-term value-ism theory,enterprise strategic planning--ethical decision model as the theoretical basis of the full thesis,in-depth research on the types of ethical dilemmas faced by Z biotechnology company,different ethical viewpoints of company members and their reasons,and the decisions made by founders in the face of ethical dilemmas and their basis.The fourth chapter gives 4 suggestions and countermeasures to the current objective situation and future development path of Z biotechnology company.Finally,the fifth chapter summarizes the logic of the company’s success and rebirth,and looks forward to its future development.The research conclusions of this thesis hope to provide some reference and enlightenment for enterprises involved in entrepreneurial ethics.
