Along with the transition of China’s economy from high growth to high quality development,how to cultivate and create new economic momentum and driving force is a major practical problem that needs to be explored and answered urgently.In the context of the new round of technological revolution and industrial change,the development of information technology industry(IT industry)has become a strategic choice for major economies in the world to seize the commanding heights of economic competition,providing an important opportunity for China to transform its industrial layout and the basic condition for a region to achieve high-quality economic development.In the face of unprecedented changes in a century,the information technology industry and high-quality economic development go hand in hand,providing a strong driving force for the construction of China’s new development pattern.At present,the information technology industry is promoting the profound transformation of China’s production mode and people’s way of life to varying degrees with an unprecedented speed and penetration effect,which is also an important measure for China to seize the opportunity and win the initiative in this grim background,and realize the curve of China’s economic development.After entering a new stage of development,how to correctly understand the relationship between the information technology industry and the high-quality development of the economy,so as to achieve the coordinated development of the two,is one of the important topics that scholars are concerned about.Based on the theory of industrial development,the theory of coordinated development of regional economy,the theory of high-quality economic development and the theory of technology diffusion,this paper uses the combinatorial empowerment method to measure the level of highquality development of China’s information technology industry and economy,constructs a spatial panel vector autoregressive model to analyze the long-term interaction relationship between the two,constructs a modified model of coupling coordination to analyze the coupling relationship,and uses Dagum’s Gini coefficient,Kernel density estimation and standard deviation ellipse explore the sources of differences in coupling coordination,spatial differences,and dynamic evolution of the two.The results show that(1)the development level of China’s information technology industry and the level of high-quality economic development are increasing year by year,and the growth rate of the development level of information technology industry is higher than that of high-quality economic development;During the research period,the development level of China’s information technology industry depended more on the penetration characteristics of the development level of the information technology industry,while the proportion of China’s high-tech characteristics was relatively low,and the improvement of the high-quality economic development level mainly depended on China’s level of openness,while the coordination characteristics accounted for the lowest proportion,and the gap between urban and rural development was too large.(2)From the calculation results of information technology industry and high-quality economic development,both show significant spatial agglomeration effect,indicating that the two have a positive spatial correlation.The results of the Grainger causal test show that the information technology industry and the high-quality economic development in most economic belts are causally related to each other,indicating that the information technology industry is the core driving force of high-quality economic development,providing technical support for high-quality economic development,and in turn,providing a good supporting and guaranteeing role for the development of information technology industry.(3)The results of the spatial panel vector autoregressive empirical model show that the development of information technology industry has a time lag.In the long run,the overall interaction trend of information technology industry and high-quality economic development shows a positive response.(4)The coupling and coordination between the information technology industry and high-quality economic development has shown a trend of increasing year by year.However,the coupling coordination level of the two is still very low,and from the spatial dimension,the coupling coordination degree of China’s information technology industry and high-quality economic development level shows obvious spatial clustering characteristics,reflecting significant spatial effects.(5)On the whole,the regional difference in the coupling and coordination level of information technology industry and high-quality economic development is still large,and there is still great uncertainty in the coupling and coordination level of the two;The coupling coordination degree varies the most in the southern coastal area.The difference between regions is a major source of the overall Gini coefficient,indicating that the development of coupling coordination degree is unbalanced,and the multi-level differentiation phenomenon is serious.Finally,combined with the empirical results,the high-tech capabilities of the information technology industry are improved.managing the digital divide in regional development;promoting the cluster effect of the information technology industry;Promote the integration of industry and economy and put forward policy suggestions from four perspectives.
