The Influence Of Rural Entrepreneurial Environment On Migrant Workers’ Willingness To Return To Their Hometowns For Entrepreneurship

With the emergence of the craze of rural workers returning to their villages to establish businesses,which not only drives the employment of rural labor force but also promotes the improvement of rural society and economy,rural workers who return to their hometowns to establish their own businesses are playing a significant role in the advancement of rural revitalization.A positive rural entrepreneurial environment can stimulate migrant workers’ willingness to establish businesses in their hometowns.Therefore,it is very important to study the relationship between rural entrepreneurial environment and migrant workers’ intention to return to their hometowns to enhance their willingness to return to their hometowns and mobilize their enthusiasm to return to their hometowns.This paper draws on findings from domestic and international research to integrate the GEM Entrepreneurial Model Theory,Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory and other related theories,and makes use of research data from 298 migrant workers from Guangshan County.Empirical analysis showed that the positive effects of the financial services environment,policy support environment,infrastructure environment,social and cultural environment and education and training environment on migrant workers’ intention to return to their hometowns were remarkable,but the extent of impact of different dimensions of rural entrepreneurial environment on migrant workers’ intention to establish businesses in their hometowns varies.Among them,the financial service environment,policy support environment and infrastructure environment have a greater impact on migrant workers’ intention to return to their hometowns,while the socio-cultural environment and education and training environment are the next most influential.In addition,the basic characteristics of migrant workers,such as gender,education attainment and marital status,also have some effects on their intention to return to their hometown and establish a business.Finally,this paper suggests the following four recommendations to further improve migrant workers’ intention to return to their hometowns:first,optimize the financial environment for rural entrepreneurship;second,create a good entrepreneurial atmosphere;third,improve the level of infrastructure services;fourth,enhance the entrepreneurial ability of returning migrant workers.
