The Impact Of Sino-US Trade Friction On The Innovation Ability Of High-Tech Enterprises

Cultivating opportunities in crises and opening up new opportunities in changes,China US relations are the most important bilateral relationship in the world today.With the continuous improvement of China’s position on the international political and economic stage,the basic positioning of the United States towards China has changed,and trade frictions between China and the United States have also shown new characteristics and trends that are completely different from before.Since Trump took office as President of the United States,he has strengthened comprehensive containment of China in areas such as trade and technology.The means of cracking down on China are becoming increasingly diverse,making the new round of trade frictions between China and the United States more systematic,structural,and global in nature.Since Biden took office as the President of the United States,he has placed greater emphasis on competition with China in international new technologies such as 5G technology.If trade is the main battlefield for the Trump administration to compete with China,then technology is the second main battlefield opened up by the Biden administration to compete with China,with the aim of cracking down on the original innovation capabilities of China’s high-tech enterprises.Huawei,as a leading enterprise in China’s information and communication technology industry,has been subjected to four rounds of sanctions from the United States,greatly affecting its innovation capabilities and economic benefits.This article focuses on the research and development data and financial data of Huawei Technology Co.,Ltd.,with a research cycle from 2016 to 2022.Through case analysis and horizontal and vertical comparative analysis methods,this study analyzes the changes in Huawei’s innovation performance and economic benefits before and after being sanctioned by the United States,and identifies the impact mechanism of trade friction between China and the United States on enterprise innovation.Ultimately,this study explores the impact of trade friction between China and the United States on the innovation capabilities of high-tech enterprises in China.This study found that firstly,the means of trade friction between the United States and China have gradually expanded from trade restriction policies to legislation in key areas related to China.Secondly,the United States’ control over key industrial technologies has become a weapon to suppress China’s high-tech enterprises.Thirdly,Huawei’s potential innovation capabilities and output have shown a significant upward trend after being sanctioned by the United States,but its profitability and development capabilities have shown a downward trend.This indicates that the trade friction between China and the United States is positively correlated with the innovation performance of high-tech enterprises in China,and negatively correlated with economic and financial performance.But the development of innovative businesses by enterprises can offset some of the negative economic effects brought about by trade frictions.Fourthly,trade frictions between China and the United States will limit the spillover of high-tech products from the United States to China,hindering the introduction of technology by Chinese high-tech enterprises,thereby forcing them to enhance their awareness and ability for independent innovation.Based on this,this article proposes the following suggestions: firstly,the Chinese government should shape the image of a major country,set red lines on key issues,and reduce the adverse effects of trade friction and escalation on enterprises.Secondly,the Chinese government should increase funding support and subsidy discount policies for independent innovation in key areas of China’s high-tech enterprises,and promote the cultivation of key technologies with global competitiveness by China’s high-tech enterprises.Thirdly,high-tech enterprises in China should adhere to long-term investment in scientific research funds,actively develop innovative businesses,and open up new profit growth points for enterprises to improve their development potential and resilience.Fourthly,China’s high-tech enterprises should strengthen the cultivation of technical talents,actively enhance innovation awareness,and reduce dependence on external products and markets.
