The product manager of e-commerce platforms is a product research and development management personnel who,based on the development strategy and specific business of e-commerce platforms,leads personnel from departments such as design,development,operation,and sales to collaborate and complete the research and development and iterative optimization of e-commerce platform products.However,due to the high requirements of e-commerce platform enterprises for the comprehensive quality of product managers,coupled with the characteristics of fast work pace,heavy workload,and strong work uncertainty,e-commerce platform product managers often experience psychological pressure,job burnout,and anti production behavior in their work,which affects their work performance;Meanwhile,due to the need for e-commerce platform product managers to collaborate with R&D and design personnel in their work,the work ability and performance of e-commerce platform product managers also affect the satisfaction and efficiency of R&D employees to a certain extent.Therefore,based on leadership theory and social exchange theory,this article takes R&D personnel as the research object and explores the impact of product manager competence on R&D employee satisfaction in e-commerce platforms.This article outlines the positioning,workflow,job characteristics,and competency characteristics of product managers on e-commerce platforms,and points out the research purpose and significance of this study.Based on relevant research results both domestically and internationally,this article constructs a research framework based on leadership theory and social exchange theory.This article takes ecommerce platform R&D personnel as the research object,selects the competency of e-commerce platform product managers as the independent variable,and refers to domestic and foreign research results to divide it into two dimensions: professional skills and professional attitude;Using the work performance of product managers on e-commerce platforms as an intermediary variable,it is divided into three dimensions: task performance,organizational citizenship behavior,and anti production behavior;Using R&D employee satisfaction as the dependent variable,the study verifies the relationship between the three variables.The design of the survey questionnaire mainly refers to existing research results and mature scales,and is flexibly set based on the position and ability characteristics of product managers on ecommerce platforms.The final questionnaire items are determined through pre research.In this paper,we collected 388 valid data through research on the R&D personnel of domestic e-commerce platforms,and used SPSS24.0 and AMOS24.0 software to carry out descriptive statistical analysis,common method bias test,reliability and validity test,and mesomeric effect test to verify the relationship between variables and the mediating role of job performance.The empirical results indicate that the competency dimensions,task performance,and organizational citizenship behavior of e-commerce platform product managers have a significant positive impact on R&D employee satisfaction.The anti production behavior in job performance has a significant negative impact on R&D employee satisfaction.The job performance of ecommerce platform product managers plays a partial mediating role between their competency and R&D employee satisfaction.Finally,based on the empirical results and the problems existing in the position of product manager on e-commerce platforms,feasible countermeasures and suggestions are proposed to improve the competence and work performance of product managers on e-commerce platforms.Specifically,these measures include optimizing the recruitment process,improving training mechanisms,promoting informal communication,promoting organizational public behavior,promoting nonviolent communication,reducing work burden,standardizing work standards,and standardizing document management.This article explores the relationship between the competence of product managers on ecommerce platforms and the satisfaction of R&D employees,aiming to propose countermeasures and suggestions from the perspective of product manager competence and job performance,improve the performance of product R&D teams on e-commerce platforms,and promote the development of ecommerce platforms.
