Enterprises pursue eternal existence and development. Managers have to find ways to improve employees’ work performance as they want a sustainable development of the organization. With the rising up of humanism, people care more about their work quality than ever before, thus making job satisfaction and work performance two of the core tasks of human resource management.Based on the reviews of the former studies of the relationship between employees’ job satisfaction and work performance, this article researches two large state-owned enterprises in Nanjing,constructs the basic framework using employees’ job satisfaction (includes job itself satisfaction, job return satisfaction and job environment satisfaction) as the independent variable, and employees’ work performance (includes task performance and contextual performance) as the dependent variable, hypothesis with a brief description of the research ideas.266 questionnaire from the two organizations prove basic information and data for the study. Using the SPSS 19.0 software, the article analyse the data through descriptive statistics analysis, factors analysis, analysis of variance, correlation analysis and regression analysis.Through empirical study, it comes out that demography factors have different impressions on job satisfaction and work performance; there is a positive relationship between job itself satisfaction, job return satisfaction, job environment satisfaction and task performance, contextual performance and overall performance; overall satisfaction has significant influence on contextual performance, job itself satisfaction, job return satisfaction and job environment satisfaction all have significant influence on task performance, job environment satisfaction has significant influence on contextual performance. According to the conclusions, it is suggested that measures that can improve employees’job itself, job return and job environment should be taken for the improvement of work performance and thus for the sustainable development of the organization.
