Green and healthy agricultural products are fundamental to the development of green agriculture.Farmers’ participation in green production is an crucial for promoting agricultural and rural modernization and optimizing the layout of the agricultural industry.Developing green agriculture is an essential means of promoting economic development, constructing a beautiful countryside and effectively protect agricultural ecology. However, the process of developing green agriculture is faced with several challenges, including pollution sources, lagging concept of green agriculture, industrial wastewater discharge and domestic garbage disposal, which significantly impact the development environment of green agriculture.Adopting an industrial chain organization mode can provide farmers with production services and technology, alleviating the need to consider the direction of agricultural products sales and contact economic cooperation organizations, which is conducive to improving farmers’ green production technology level and promoting farmers to adopt green production behavior. This paper introduces the industrial chain organization model into the study of green production behavior of apple growers, which has theoretical and practical significance. To examine the relationship between industrial chain organization mode and apple growers’ green production behavior, this paper employs the data of Shaanxi Province and Gansu Province, the main apple producing areas in 2021,and uses quantile regression,OLS regression, and Probit regression to test the direct influence of the industrial chain organization mode on apple growers’ green production behavior. An intermediary effect model is also constructed to analyze the indirect path of Internet participation in industrial chain organization mode on apple growers’ green production behavior. The research findings reveal that the "cooperative+farmer" model is the most commonly adopted industrial chain organization model among apple growers, and it has a positive impact on their green production behavior.Specifically, the "cooperative+farmer" and "family farm+farmer" modes have a significant positive impact on the green production level of apple growers, while the "enterprise+farmer" and "family farm+farmer" modes have a significant negative impact on the number of pesticide injections of apple growers. The positive influence of "cooperative+farmer" mode on apple growers’ green production behavior exhibits an inverted U-shape with downward opening, and the positive influence of "family farm+farmer" mode shows an increasing trend. The effect of "enterprise+farmer" mode on reducing the number of pesticides is better than that of "family farm+farmer" mode.Furthermore,Internet participation plays a positive intermediary role between industrial chain organization mode and apple growers’ green production behavior, accounting for 30.15%.Based on these research findings, this paper suggests promoting a new agricultural model that relies on scale operation, division of labor and cooperation, interest linkage and building integrated cooperatives, enterprises, family farms, farmers, breeding companies, agricultural suppliers, scientific research teams, training teams, production services and loan guarantees.Additionally, improving farmers’ knowledge literacy and cultivate high-quality farmers and strengthening digital construction by utilizing township or village cadres, agricultural extension workers, new business entities and other forces to establish data files, regularly track, dynamically grasp and update the implementation of farmers’ green production behavior.
