“The Lancang Mekong Cooperation Mechanism”(LMC)is an institutional arrangement with the five ASEAN countries(Mekong Basin countries)at the initiative of China, and an important international cooperation direction for the development of foreign trade in Yunnan Province, which is of great strategic importance to deepen the cooperation and development of China, especially Yunnan, with the relevant countries. As a bridgehead for cooperation between China and the five Mekong countries, the synergy between international logistics and the international trade level of the Mekong countries is a test of the results achieved since the launch of the LMC,and is also of great significance for the high-quality development of Yunnan’s economy.Based on the basic theories and frontier knowledge of international trade theory,logistics-related theory, systematic theory, synergy theory and other related disciplines, this paper analyses the synergistic mechanism of international logistics in Yunnan Province and international trade with Mekong countries, using a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis, using Grey correlation and Pearson correlation analysis for index selection, and constructing a comprehensive analysis of international logistics and international trade with Mekong countries in Yunnan. On the basis of this, the coupling degree and the modified coupling coordination degree model are constructed to measure the coupling coordination degree of the two as a basis for analyzing the evolution trend of their synergistic development. Finally, using the results of the coupling coordination degree of the two as the dependent variables and the relevant influencing factors as the explanatory variables,an econometric model was constructed to analyse the main factors affecting the synergistic development of them. The empirical results show that there is a high degree of synergy between international logistics in Yunnan Province and it’s international trade with the Mekong countries, but the level of synergistic development has not yet reached the ideal state, and the level of comprehensive development of international trade between Yunnan and Mekong countries and international logistics in Yunnan shows alternating lags, indicating that the two are in a mutually reinforcing relationship and the development of both sides has had a positive impact on each other in recent years, but not to a sufficient extent. In addition, the results of the analysis of the influencing factors show that the overall consumption capacity of Yunnan Province is the main factor influencing the synergistic development of the two, while the internet penetration rate, per capita disposable income and gross logistics product are important factors influencing the synergistic development of the two;while the total actual utilization of foreign investment in Yunnan Province is to some extent hindering the synergistic development of the two. Finally, based on the findings, the following countermeasures are proposed: Yunnan Province should continue to maintain the momentum of strengthening international logistics construction, especially infrastructure and logistics industry development,in order to give full play to the driving role of international logistics.China(Yunnan)and Mekong countries should increase their mutual opening up efforts and implement more bilateral trade preferential policies to compensate for the hindrance caused by the lagging trade development,in order to help Yunnan give full play to its advantages and achieve high-quality development,so as to better promote the common development of the Lancang-Mekong Basin.
