Innovation Capacity,Intellectual Property Protection And The Exports Of Digital Service Trade

With the breakthrough and application of new information technology such as big data,artificial intelligence and cloud computing,digital trade based on data and digital technology has flourished with each passing day,and the exports of China’s digital service also have grown rapidly.In recent years,the gap between the contribution of China’s digital service exports and the one of the world is narrowing,but there is no doubt that the barriers of digital service trade still exist.Experience shows that the restructuring of traditional resource factors is not enough to support stable and long-lasting development in China’s digital service trade,and only by improving innovation capability and transforming to an innovation-driven economy can the development of digital service trade be effectively promoted.Therefore,a proper understanding of the importance of innovation capability in the era of digital economy is conducive to promoting the sustainable prosperity of China’s digital service trade.At the same time,intellectual property protection,as a key means to stimulate and guarantee innovation,is extremely beneficial to creating a regular environment for digital service trade and promoting the sustainable prosperity of digital service trade.Taking innovation capability as the entry point,this paper uses data from 2009-2020 between China and its trading partners to study the impact of innovation capability on digital service exports.It is found that innovation capability has a significant positive effect on digital service exports,that is to say,the stronger the innovation capability is,the more prosperous China’s digital service exports will be.And then this paper introduces the level of intellectual property protection treated by cultural distance of each country as a moderating variable,which indicates the recognition of intellectual property protection in China by each country.The empirical results show that improving the level of intellectual property protection can effectively and efficiently strengthen the positive driving effect of innovation capability on China’s digital service exports.Based on this,the paper further explains the impact of the innovation capability gap between countries on China’s digital service exports from a dynamic perspective.The results show that the larger the innovation capability gap is,the less unfavorable digital service exports will be.Finally,considering all the findings,this paper offers some appropriate suggestions based on China’s national conditions in order to promote the development of digital service trade.
