Dilapidated granite is special soil erosion in red soil region of southern China. The seriousness of disaster is less than landslide and mud-rock flows. Disaster was serious which menaced not only the local and downriver agriculture and industry but also the lives and property of the people. In the process of dilapidated granite control, the knowledge penetration is not high, and the method of dilapidated granite control generalization is not enough. This article classified the knowledge of dilapidated granite and developed the consultation information system for dilapidated granite based on expert system theory and WebGIS technology. The consultation information system for dilapidated granite designed two major functional structures such as dilapidated granite knowledge consultation and information sharing for dilapidated granite data. The system can be run on the network which bases on Browser/Web Server/Database structure and the designing of knowledge base, database. It carried out the function of browse, query about knowledge.The paper's emphasis is how to design and develop the system. It includes five parts: Introduction, Analysis and design of the system, developed the consultation system for dilapidated granite, Information sharing for dilapidated granite data and conclusion. This one introduces the situation of knowledge penetration about dilapidated granite, raised the purpose of the research by the question; introduce the brief presentation about the Expert System. The paper describes the technical and objective of the system, system requirement analysis, the goal of system and the functions. The main contents are discussed following:1. The consultation information system for dilapidated granite including system requirements analysis, collective design, database and network architecture design. The system established a dilapidated granite knowledge base. Knowledge Base is the core component of the system. This study made the knowledge simplified. The dilapidated granite knowledge come from the relevant academic works and published papers. Then the knowledge was understood by people, and classified by the system of knowledge structure. It set the key words for achieving the knowledge search function. The system integrated the database and knowledge base effectively, images that stored in database connected with the corresponding dilapidated granite knowledge point by encoding. The image data include the dilapidated granite investigation photos and control project design. The users can achieve a better understand to the dilapidated granite knowledge. This system can introduce the basic knowledge, prevention and control measures about dilapidated granite to the masses and engineers. It can made everyone realized the significance of dilapidated granite control. It can also promote the prevention and control work of dilapidated granite.2. Information sharing for dilapidated granite data: using the ArcIMS as a map server. From this server, the system achieved the data of dilapidated granite of Hubei province sharing in the network. It not only provides the data to the local soil and water conservation management and technical personnel, but also assisted the control work of dilapidated granite.
