Sorts and principles of advanced oxidation technologies used in the treatment of wastewater in industry were reviewed in details in this paper. The relative treating efficiencies of different technical systems were also studied through their applications to the disposal of wastewater in pulp and paper industry. Photosensitized oxidants formed by Alginate Sodium, Active Carbon, Methylene Blue and Calcium Chloride could restrain efficiently the quench effect, produced by reductive sugars in wastewater in pulp and paper industry, on active oxygen and hydroxy radicals. Therefore, the de-ratio of COD was greatly raised. Photosensitizer with the proportion of the distribution of AS, AC and MB as 2000:700:3 and 1.5% CaCl2 is the optimal design, by which the ratio of de-COD of wastewater in pulp and paper industry was up to 69.6% . The approach shows a good application prospect, for it not only exempts from the large exhaustion of H2O2 in Fenton Reaction, but also it avoids the loss of photosensitizers in homogeneous reaction.During the experiments, an approach to the detection of singlet oxygen, photometry with extraction was also studied, which provides a technical approach to select photosensitizers.
