In this paper, a 3-D finite element model of the lid of sleeve filter centrifuge's drum is created by using solid element to analyze its stress. And models of the shaft system of the centrifuge are also established by beam or solid element for model analysis.Sleeve filter centrifuge is a new type of automatic centrifuge, typically which has four operating phases, i.e., materiel adding phase, dehydrating phase, washing phase and solid discharging phase. Stresses of lid of the centrifuge's drum at the above-mentioned phases are studied. Principal contents studied include the stress and stain distributions of critical locations, the effect of changing location of connecting rod of lid on stresses of the lid of centrifuge's drum, and the effect of the thickness of filtering products on stresses. The advanced structure of sleeve filter centrifuge is its complex tri-axes system. In this paper, models of the shaft system are established by beam or solid element. Model analyses of the shaft system at the above-mentioned four phases are performed. The following questions are also discussed in this paper: (1) the mode of each natural frequency; (2) acomparison of the results from ANSYS with beam or solid elements and analytical work; (3) the influence of different constraints and simulating methods on critical speed. For tri-axes system, the calculating work of traditional method for its critical frequencies is so tremendous that the practice would be impossible. This study shows that the finite element numerical method is practicable and may also be the only feasible method to this problem.
