In the field of forming processes for composite materials, filament winding forming process is widely used because of its good performance. The filament winding equipment is the special equipment for the production made of composite materials. Its design and production is a new field of the mechanic manufacture. Because of diversity and complexity of productions, and the different requirements about linetype precision and production quality in different fields, the filament winding equipment has a low degree in production currency, production standard , production series.Pro/Engineer is a powerful CAD software from PTC. Though it's widely used in china, its powerful modules are seldom fully used. This paper takes Pro/Engineer as the application development platform, and aimed to set up an intelligent CAD system, to carry out all the designing tasks of filament winding machine by Pro/Engineer.The main tasks undertaken in the papers are as follows:1. Design the five axes numerical filament winding machine in Pro/Engineer. The difference between this design and formal design is that we add aup-and-down movement to the machine; We designings modeling and assembly all in Pro/Engineer.2. Pro/Mechanica Structure AnalysisAnalysis and optimize the key parts of the machine based on Pro/Mechanica.3. Movement simulationAccording to the rules of filament winding, simulate the winding process based on the model we designed by Pro/Engineer;carry out the line styles and analysis the winding process.4. Parameteration of the machineParameterize the machine. We aimed to realize the parameterization of the assembly machine, when the workpiece changes among three dimension series.
