With the rapid development of society and economy, the problems on city's garbage are increasingly becoming a serious problem. Landfill leachate contains a variety of pollutants such as organic matter, ammonia, heavy metals. These lead to the difficulty in treating leachate from landfill and pose adverse impact on environment.This study was carried out to investigate the feasibility of three kinds of treatment technologies in treating leachate from landfill site of Western Suburb in Kunming. UASB-BCO (Biological Contact Oxidation) process showed that the "UASB+BCO" process could remove 93.48% COD and 94.93% NH3-N. After the treatment by using the CataLytic Wet Oxidation Process (CWO) test plant (under the condition of 270°C,9MPa ,catalytic reaction time 40~60min), the more than 99% of CODcr and NH3-N could be removed from the leachate. The membrane technology would effectively remove the CODcr and NH3-N. Besides the effect of the treatment, it contains the analysis of the adaptability, technics, operation and management, the influence to the environment and the the economy. Compared to other processes tested, CWO reached highest pollutant removal efficiency, therefore, is recommended for landfill leachate treatment.
