Urban Ecosystem Health Analysis And Assessment Of Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration

Cities are the product of human social,economic and cultural development,and are the most complex ecological types. Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration is a new and rising urban agglomeration in the eastern coastal regions. The urbanization process accelerating already caused a series of ecological problems and cities have highlighted unhealthy symptoms which threaten the sustained development of Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration. This thesis seeks to use the theory and methodology of ecosystem health to study urban ecosystem,analysis the adverse factors threaten the urban ecosystem health. The human activities which make urban ecosystems pathological can be corrected and adjusted. The urban agglomeration's ecological environment can be kept in good condition while the economy is in the high-speed development.This thesis summarizes the content of ecosystems and urban ecosystems, distinguishes advantages and disadvantages of a variety of evaluation methods. The thesis use principal component analysis to build the indicator system on vigor,resilience,organization,maintenance of ecosystem services and human health,and to assess through fuzzy mathematical models for Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration. The evaluations reached the following conclusions:The overall level of Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration ecosystem health is in the sub-health status. But the trend is changing gradually from sub-health to health status. The irrational economic structure, the poor urban ecological environment, the infrastructure lags behind the pace of urban development and other issues are constraining factor that affecting the health of Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration. Better state of the social structure, excellent investment environment, and stable economic development promotes the Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration rise in the level of health. The analysis on the Qingdao which is the central city of Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration shows that: In the 2001-2005 five years, the health status of Qingdao was in a sub-healthy level, but the overall level increased every year. The ecosystem health level between 8 cities in Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration is different, can be divided into two grades, Jinan, Qingdao, Yantai, Weihai have a higher level of health. Dongying, Zibo, Weifang and Rizhao have relatively poor level of health. According to the result, this thesis analysis the health status of every city and the elements of health, finds out the specific reasons that led health of these cities to good or bad level. Getting the favorable and unfavorable factors that affect urban ecosystem health.Through analyze urban ecosystem health of Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration, the author hope that it will provide feasible path and macro basis for decision-making to raise the level of ecosystem health of Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration. This thesis gave proposals from accelerating the building of eco-city, focusing on the protection of ecologically sensitive areas, strengthening the protection of the environment and promoting integrated development of urban agglomerations four areas to improve Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration ecosystem health.
