The plate and sheet products are widely used in many fields such as pipeline of petroleum and natural gas, shipping, bridge, container, boiler, oceanic component, construction and so on. Increasing product yields by reducing crop losses is one of the most prominent ways to save energy consumption and reach cost down purpose, which largely affects the enterprise economic interests. The technique of shape width control is one of the most important methods to improve rolling yield. This technology is undeveloped or completely used in our country.Width setting model is the first step of width control and needs exact vertical rolling force model and width spread model.We draw a roll pass sequence and constitute their three-dimensional models by Pro-E software and plot gridding by HyperMesh, take DEFORM as study platform, by method of finite element. After a lot of simulation, the rule of the rolling force of vertical mil is reached and its mathematics model is also returned by MAYLAB. We use this paper's rolling force model of vertical mill to modify the 1780mm hot strip vertical mill rolling force. The accuracy of vertical mill rolling force prediction model calculation is virtually improved. Subsequently,we get the rule of the plate changement and analyse it. We also find Shibahara width spread model adapts to the 1780mm mill,then recalculate the 1780mm width by modifide Shibahara model and improve the precision.This paper studied the shape width enactment in rough rolling and improved the production yields theoretically.
