As a proverb said, Food is the first necessity of people, and one thrives only in his familiar environment". The long history of human development, as well as complex and diverse geographic conditions, natural and human environments has created a rich and colorful, gorgeous and diverse food culture of the region. For example, in China food is sweet in south, while salty in north, sour in east, spicy in west. Han mainly eats rice and flour, while Tibetan barley tsampa, Mongolian lamb cheese and so on .The regional differences, diversity and richness in food culture are impacted by the natural environment as well as geographical mode of production, habits and cultural traditions.Regional differences in the natural environment are fundamental in the formation of different regional food culture. China is broad and natural conditions have many differences in different regions: complex and diverse climates, the terrain in west is high while low in east, varieties of terrain, different spatial and temporal distribution of water and heat, resulting in regional differences in agricultural products, and so many different kinds. Agriculture is the source of the people's food. The different ways of production and the different structure of crop planting have made food culture so colorful.China is a multi-ethnic country. Different ethnic groups have different lifestyles and eating habits: the main production of food is rice in south, so people like eating rice. As a result, rice becomes the main food, while wheat and corn is the main production of food in northern. People love to eat pasta, such as buns, cake, steamed buns, dumplings, fried fritters, wonton, fried dough twist, noodles, wotou and so on. While people mainly eat meat and milk in the areas where have developed animal husbandry. As China has a long history of tea and wine culture. The main traditional drink all over the country is tea and wine, which is the reflection of people's lives mood.In geographical teaching, the methods of natural infiltration, multi-comparison and practice are mainly adopted to learn the knowledge of our country's food culture, which can enable students to learn more about the brilliant and diverse food culture of the motherland, and further arouse their patriotic fervor and the better ambitions of the construction of our motherland.Starting from the new researches of home and abroad, with the theoretical basis for the study, this paper mainly study on the reasons of geographical differences in food culture, which is expounded in terms of differences in natural geography and human geography. In the natural geographical differences, I further divided into four parts: differences in climate, differences in land and sea, differences in terrain, differences in soil and water. The differences in human geography are divided into three parts: differences between East and West, North-South differences and national differences. In this paper, we can reach the conclusion that the geographical differences in food culture is mainly affected by natural and geographical factors and human geography factors, and people must be pay attention to the harmonious development of nature and human .To identify the shortcomings of this study is the direction in future work and research.
