The spindle's boundary condition is calculated by analyzing the mechanical principle of J55 series clutch operated screw press. The state of stress and the dangerous area of the spindle are found by FEM analyzation. The way to reduce the value of max equivalent stress is also been found. In this thesis, several foreign type spindles are been analyzed by FEM method in the same boundary condition with J55 series clutch operated screw press. By analyzing the relationship between the structure and the stress, an optimal J55-4000 parameter spindle model is created by Pro/ENGINEER. After parameter optimization the value of max equivalent stress is greatly reduced. The single parameter sensitivity of the optimal model is also been calculated. This is useful in the spindle design in the future.
