The finishing temperature is high if we use Cross Wedge Rolling technology to produce shaft, direct quenching after rolling makes organization coarse, bad plasticity and toughness, so general parts are required by air cooling after rolling and then reheated for quenching and tempering to ensure the performance. The non-quenched and tempered steel that is called"green steel"is used for the three-roll CWR production, which not only saves the heat treatment and the related working procedure material consumption, but also reduces the pollution and the production cycle,. moreover improves the labor productivity . It has good economic and social benefits. The research object of this paper is F40MnV steel, in the process of research, controlled rolling and cooling process of non-hollow shaft with the composition of non- quenched and tempered steel is simulated and the rolling experiment is done to prove the rolling simulation results'correction.Firstly, the finite element software DEFORM-3D is used to simulate the whole rolling process of three-roll cross wedge that rolls workpiece and analysis temperature distribution of the rolling process. After rolled by three-roll cross wedge , work piece's temperature and organization field are simulated and we conclude temperature, organization changes discipline under different cooling style.Secondly, F40MnV workpieces with thermocouple are rolled in the DS200 three-roll cross wedge rolling machine. We use orthogonal test to arrange controlled rolling and cooling test ,through controlling initial rolling temperature, final rolling temperature, reduction in area and cooling method (water, air, air cooling, water cooling and air cooling) to achieve the controlled rolling and cooling Then we use the result to compare with the finite element simulation model for control of cooling , finding both are consistent. Through different cooling ways we get the cooling curves. By tensile and hardness test we obtain the mechanical properties of various parts. Then we use orthogonal test's scientific analysis to get the best process of controlled rolling and cooling. And the mechanical properties are compared with the 45 steel's mechanical properties which are quenched and tempered. Then we can verify the superiority of steel 40MnV.We observe the microstructure of the rolling pieces which are under different cooling methods. And we use the result to compare with the finite element model results during cooling phase change of three-roll cross wedge rolling hollow shaft, finding both are consistent.Finally, using Visual Basic 6.0 development tool, we develope simulation system software that is non-quenched and tempered steel 40MnV for a three-roll cross wedge rolling, the controlled rolling and controlled cooling model is inserted in the finite element software DEFORM, then we make steel 40MnV of the controlled rolling and controlled cooling to come true.
