Annual heating furnace is a key equipment of the steel pipe factory and the heating quality directly affects the production quality of next processes. Thus, how to heat each billet to the expected target temperature is the major task for annual heating furnace.The simulation system for the annual heating furnace is a new model simulation system designed by the Automation Institute of Baosteel to solve the problem that previous simulation systems are directed at a separate model in the furnace, which are not systematic. The purpose of this system is in order to test all the models on the simulation platform and simulate the real furnace production by integrating all the models in the furnace system. This system could master the furnace models more systematically and comprehensively and will be a furnace model system that is independently designed and developed in technique. At the same time this system through simple changes could be used immediately at the working place.This paper first introduces introduced the significance of computer simulation technology and the background of paper. Secondly this paper introduces the design of whole system of simulation. Finally the design and implementation of simulation application platform are presented. Application platform design and implementation include following main items:configuration software on the screen monitoring software development advantages, the steps and principles of the development of monitoring system. Because the configuration software InTouch's computing capabilities is not strong, model part and monitoring system are separated. Therefore the communication interface based on DDE is completed. In order to obtain long-range plan information, the model systems and project management system are commutated based on Winsock.In order to resolve the problem that current online systems do not have historical trend, this system uses three kinds of historical data storing methods, the InTouch's own method, control procedures and the relational database, and the system also combines InTouch own historical trend with controlling components showing the temperature trends of steel in the furnace, so that different clients'needs are met.
