| Alloxan was used for inducing the rat model of diabetes mellitus. Then the model rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: the treated group with high dose, the treated group with low dose, tlic positive control group and the negative control group. The two treated groups received treatment with the Decoction based on Baihu with Ginseng and the positive control group with Phenenthylbiguanide by oral injection for 15 days. In the course, general state of rats was observed. Blood glucose, serum immunoglobulin 0 and inimunoglobulin M were tested as well. The results showed that the Decoction based on Baihu with Ginseng had the obvious effect of decreasing the blood glucose. There were no significant differences between the treated groups and the positive control group. But in improving the IgG and IgM level, the treated group with high dose was better than the low dose group and the positive control group. It's suggested that the Decoction based on Baihu with Ginseng has the function of decreasing blood glucose and improving humoral immunity. The experiment provided scientific basis for curing diabetes mellitus with TCD.
