| AIM Observe the influence of losartan on the expression of plasma nitric oxide (NO) nitric oxide synthase (NOS) superoxide dismutase (SOD) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). Methods Twenty spontaneously hypertension rats (SHR) and ten WKY rats (Normaltensive) will be subjected to an eight-weeked medicine control experiment and the SHR will be randomly divided into two groups of ten rats each, one is the losartan accepted group, the other is the control group.The chemical colorimetry will be applied to measure the plasma content of NO NOS SOD and ROS in each group of animals after eight weeks. Results The plasma ROS and NOS are extremely increased in SHR group compared with WKY group (P < 0.001), while the content of NO and SOD are extremely decreased (P < 0.001). But when the SHR group compared with the SHR group which accepted eight-weeked losartan ,we found that the content of ROS is reduced and NO increased in group applied losartan (P < 0.001) while there is no extremely change at the activity of both SOD and NOS in the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Losartan could inhibit the vivo oxidative stress in spontaneously hypertension rats. |
