Objectives: The goals of this study were to explore nursing practices for handling antineoplastic drugs, the occupational preventive systems in 9 big hospitals in Xian, China and possible health effects of nursing exposure. The study used a questionnaire developed by the author following published OSHA guidelines to survey 1335 nurses. The questionnaire also collected information to document nursing cognitive and training conditions for handling antineoplastic drugs, the degree of nursing exposure and the compliance with preventive measures. In addition, we collected data on the exposure effects of antineoplastic drugs on the health of these nurses. Data analysis was done utilizing SPSS11.5 software.The health parameters and side effects were correlated to the frequency of handling these drugs as well as years of exposure. In addition, compliance with wearing gloves while contacting these drugs was analyzed in order to implement suitable preventive management measures in the hospitals.Methods:1.
