RESEARCH ON THE RELATION BETWEEN GENERAL SELF-EFFICACY AND POSTOPERATIVE SATISFACTION OF PATIENTS UNDERGOING PLASTIC AND COSMETIC OPERATIONThe study of patients' motivation and degree of postoperative satisfaction is a hotspot in behavioristic psychology of plastic and cosmetic surgery. The interior and exterior motivation together drives patients to see a doctor. The major influencing factors of postoperative satisfaction are patients' preoperative motivation, age and mentation instead of surgeon's technique and postoperative complication.Self-efficacy is one of the main theory in new behavioristic psychology. General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES) can be used in self-confidence measurement in various fields. In this study, 144 plastic and cosmetic patients were respectively tested with the GSES and the postoperative satisfaction interval scale. After the investigation, we analyzed the results. In these 144 plastic and cosmetic patients, we could draw the following conclusions:1.All data were normal distribution. GSES of patients with plastic operation had increased, but GSES of patients with cosmetic operation had not changed remarkably. It indicates that plastic surgery can enhance patients' self-confidence, while cosmetic surgery can not enhance it separately. 2. In patients with plastic operation, the higher the preoperative GSES was performed, the lower the postoperative satisfaction was received and the less differences between preoperative and postoperative GSES was found. So, surgeons should pay more attention to their mentation of the patients whose GSES are above 3.2. The results of patients with cosmetic surgery were more complex: Patients whose preoperative GSES were 2.8~3.2 or around 1.5 had the highest postoperative satisfaction scores, so they are the suited crowds to perform cosmetic surgery. However, surgeons should pay close attention to the patients whose preoperative GSES were close to 2.0 or 4.0, because they often have various mental disorders, operations have to be performed after prudent explanation. Every plastic surgeon should look before they leap.3. As an assistant method to investigate and select the patients with different mental state, it has the advantages of saving time and labour, good compliableness and better maneuverability. Finally, surgeons who have the sharp eyes and excellent experience can decide the indication and contraindication with all kinds of patients.
