It had been proven that animal's airframe immunity capacity and disease resistance can be increased with astraglus polysaccharides.To investigate the enhancement of non-specific immunity and immune synergism of vaccine of astraglus polysaccharides, 48 dogs were used in two experiments.Experiment I , to investigate the effects of astraglus polysaccharides on non-specific immunity. Twenty-four 12-month-old dogs were randomly divided into 3 groups, given intramuscular injection of astraglus polysaccharides of 50mg/kg, 100mg/kg daily per kilo of body weight or normal saline(as control group) for 7 days, respectively. The index of immune organs, total WBC, leucocyte differential count, LSZ and SOD in serum, lymphocyte transformation, the macrophage and spleen cells secreted NO, IL-2,IL-4 and IFN-γactivity in serum, E-rosette rate of peripheral blood lymphocyte cells in canine were determined.The resultes show that the index of immune organs, the activity of LSZ and SOD in serum, lymphocyte transformation, total WBC and neutrophil count increased. The cytotoxic effect of macrophages was enhanced.The activity of IL-2,IL-4 and IFN-γand E-rosette rate of peripheral blood lymphocyte cells were increased. The effect of 100mg/kg astraglus polysaccharides group is obvious. It is suggested that astraglus polysaccharides can enhance non-specific immunity in canine.Experiment II, to investigate the immune synergism of astraglus polysaccharides. Twenty-four 1-month-old dogs were randomly divided into 4 groups, given intramuscular injection of 5-way vaccine and astraglus polysaccharides of 50mg/kg, 100mg/kg, 150mg/kg daily per kilo of body weight or normal saline, respectively. Blood samples were drawn at day 7,14 and 28 after injection, and the antibody level of hydrophobia virus, canine parvovirus and canine distemper virus was detected. The resultes show that the antibody level of hydrophobia virus, canine parvovirus and canine distemper virus was increased in varying degrees after treated with astraglus polysaccharides.The antibody of canine distemper virus was generated at first at day 7, and compared with the antibody level of canine parvovirus and hydrophobia virus, the antibody level of canine distemper virus increased by 165.2% and192.1%, respectively. The antibody level of there kinds of virus all got the perfect point at day 14. To some extent, the antibody level of there kinds of virus increased in 50mg/kg astraglus polysaccharides group, and with the best performance in 100mg/kg astraglus polysaccharides group. It is suggested that astraglus polysaccharides has some immune synergism with hydrophobia virus, canine parvovirus and canine distemper virus in 5-way vaccine.
