| Objective:To investigate the role of serum oxidized low density lipoprotein(ox-LDL) in the development of acute cerebral infarction(ACI),and the relationship between ox-LDL and subtypes by The Trial of Org10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment(TOAST).Methods:Ox-LDL were measured and compared in 70 patients with ACI and 52 controls, the concentration of them was also compared among different clinical types in patients with ACI.Results:Of all the patients,5.7%,45.7%,25.7%,8.6%,14.3%were classified as cardioembolism(CE), large-artery atherosclerosis(LAA),small-artery occlusion lacunar (SAO),stroke of other demonstrated etiology(SOE),stroke of undemonstrated etiology (SUE).Ox-LDL levels in ACI group were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.01).Ox-LDL levels in LAA and SAA group were much higher than those in controls(P<0.01).Ox-LDL levels in LAA group were the highest. Conclusion:The concentration of serum ox-LDL rises in ACI and has close relations with some TOAST subtypes, especially in LAA group. So it may be one of the markers in patients with ACI and prompts the existence of vulnerable plaque. |
