Cystitis glandularis is a reactive proliferative of bladder epithelium and metaplastic disease. The incidence of cystitis glandularis is low. According to foreign reports of the disease, the incidence was 0.1-1.9%.Now, incidence of the disease and the recurrence rate was significantly higher ternd. Objective Investigate the diagnosis of cystitis glandularis. An analysis was done to compare the difference of effectiveness and safety between transurethral resection combined with bladder instillation of medicine and transurethral resection only in treatment of primary cystitis glandularis. Methods The clinical data of 96 cases were reviewed in our department in the time from 2006 to 2009.The patients were divided into two groups. One combined group of 64 cases was treated by transurethral electro-resection combined with bladder instillation of hydroxycamptothecin. The other investigation group of 32 cases was treated by transurethral electro-resection as sole modality. Effects on different group of patients were compared. Results Combined Group: 38 cases were cured, 18 cases were improved, 8 cases were ineffective, the effective rate was 87.5%; control group: 7 cases were cured, 15 cases were improved,10 cases were ineffective, the effective rate was 68.8%. The two groups have significant difference (P<0.05). The transurethral electro-resection combined with bladder instillation of medicine group had a higher cure rate than the transurethral electro-resection group. Conclusion The transurethral resection combined with bladder instillation of medicine is a good way to treat cystitis glandularis and it can reduce the recurrence rate. There is not a special symptom in Cystitis glandularis ,the gold standard of diagnosis is biopsy by cystoscopes.
