Selaginella genus plants is from Selaginellacea,lycopsida,pteridophyta, which is a traditional chinese herb, there is 60 species in china, and maoe than 700 species all over the word. Selaginella genus plants is Perennational,they can resist of frigidity and arid, so they can grow on the rocky, wilderness and grassland ect. Since a good while, Selaginella genus plants is used as Chinese medicinal materials for it has the effect of anti-eancer and antivirus. Among them morethan 20 species can be used to treat diseases for long.Selaginella sanguinolenta (L. ) Spring has been used as a traditional chinese medicine for a long time, because it has effect on promoting blood circulation and relaxing muscles and tendons. My paper studies on the chemical constituents and bioactivity of Selaginella sanguinolenta (L. ) Spring which is not reported home at present , for the purpose of explointing the value of Selaginella sanguinolenta (L. ) Spring.In the research, many chromatography methods are used for the isolation of chemical constituents, including silica gel column method Sephadex LH-2 0, preparation TCL, semi -preparation HPLC, then from the alcohol extract of, nine compounds were isolated and elucidated, with the help of the spectral technolgy, including 1H-NMR,13C-NMR,DEPT ,El-MS,HMBC,HSQC,HMBC,COSY .They are :β-sitosterol (Ⅰ), umbelliferone (Ⅱ), 3-Hydroxy-benzenepropanoic acid methyl ester(Ⅲ), 6-hydroxytigmast-4-en-3-one(Ⅳ), amentoflavone(Ⅴ), p-hydroxybenzoic acid (Ⅵ), (24R)-5 -stigmast-3,6-dione(Ⅶ), ursolic acid(Ⅷ)and 2-Hydroxy-6-methoxyacetophenone(Ⅸ).Any literatures study on the chemical constituents of Selaginella sanguinolenta Spring can be found inside. Some constituents from the Selaginella genus plants are reported for the first time, they are 3-Hydroxy-benzenepropanoic acid methyl ester(Ⅲ), 6-hydroxytigmast-4-en-3-one(Ⅳ), (24R)-5 -stigmast-3,6-dione(Ⅶ), ursolic acid(Ⅷ)and 2-Hydroxy-6-methoxyacetophenone(Ⅸ).
