Aim:In view of the existence of various problems village doctors in our province are facing, strengthening system-construction and management of standardization is particularly important. If we want to standardize rural doctors'work, and want to solve their various problems faced in the new era, first, we need to have a comprehensive understanding of the system for the province's rural distribution of health human resources in order to have an overall understanding of the problems of rural doctors, and provide scientific basis and measures to formulate relevant policies for the development of rural doctors. Methods:3,550 rural doctors in 13 cities and 1,545 village health offices was collected in Gansu province for the survey according to geographical location, population density, size and region clinics, etc. The survey use the method of investigating the status about the basic situation, education, training as well as village health situation related to the basic questionnaire. Results:The survey shows that the shortage of doctors in rural areas is serious; the overall professional quality is not high; rural doctors qualifications are limited; the overall training of rural doctors is less frequent, the level of training is not high, the form of training is single, the result of training is not effective; Village health facilities do not meet basic standards; there is a relative lack of service capacity and rural cooperative system is not perfect. Conclusion:The team building of the doctors in rural areas should be the most important of all. Investment of the government at all levels and funding safeguard mechanism for public health should be built to incorporate rural doctors into national health management system. The rural primary health personnel specialized training channels should be established and training programs for rural doctors should be implemented.The training organization and leadership of rural doctors should be strengthened. Focusing on the methods and forms of raining rural doctors and the management of quality of the training rural doctors should be enhanced. Urban doctors should be encouraged to go to work in rural medical services. The system of medical further education should be reformed. Doctors'education system in rural areas and a special rural doctors'qualification system should be built. Old-age insurance and medical insurance systems should be seriously implemented. Village clinics should be standardized in order to strengthen the supervision of the capacity of village health services and the function of village clinics in the new cooperative medicine in rural places.
