With the enriching social material and changing of human consuming demands, product become vary and sophisticated, yet none could exist without certain circumstances. One product is inevitable to be connected with other products around, and to become a communicating media, that is just the meaning of the existence of a product. So, as people change their consume idea to individuality, enthusiasm and perceptual, product could not been existed only as an objective reality, but as a container for containing messages which could be understood correctly by the consumer of not will be an important reference. Expression of product is affected by other factors in this certain circumstance, as a result, design for new product is said to be adjusted by the environment in which it will be.The paper is designed on the foundation of "human center" thinking, wish to build a better communication between designer client and consumer, according to the study of product context.First, the paper discussed the concept of context in other fields and explained its function, and based on that, imported the related conception and characteristic int o the field of design, summarized a perfect definition of product context, and analyzed its component, summed up the basic feature of it: systemic dynamic regionally.Second, by using the principle of semeiology, the feasibility of massage transition between people and product was discussed, textual research the function product context played in the process of message transform from the view of information transmit was done, and relationship between product context and product itself was analyzed. It was said product context has a positive meaning in denotation selection and semantic convey. The paper used questionnaire investigate as information collection measure,helping users to set up a mental model, and thus to build a fictitious product context.Finally, the paper discussed two types of dummy methods through dummying of the character suppositional by product context, and thus to prove the importance of product context dummying in design practice. The paper argued that proper dummy of product before birth of new product could bring a better understand of the customer demands for the designers , by selecting a appropriate formative signal to avoid plunging into maze of design active to get a purposeful hold of design. The paper also brought out the key point and difficulty of product context to practice application.
