Tragedy is always an issue which puzzled philosophers and estheticians all the times. In the west world, under the orders of a nous universe system, some ideologists had to deny the existence of tragedy, such as Plato; others had to concede tragedy bringing into the nous logic structure or the morality philosophy, such as Aristotle and Hegelian; and seldom ideologists such as Nietzsche who had touched the deep aspect of tragedy, but still couldn't see the substrate of things due to prefer non-nous explanation. This dissertation will try to clear up all the theories of tragedy, then try to anatomy Nietzsche's viewpoint about tragedy by explaining his life experience and culture background, and to seek after the real significance of tragedy. Just like what Nietzsche and his predecessors alleged:"life is an utter tragedy", Nietzsche almost fulfilled his tragedy life ideally with his transcendent tragedy aesthetical idea and conduct.
