"Task-based Language Learning" has become a very hot and popular term in recent years in language teaching field, especially in the field of teaching English as a second or foreign language. Making a large effort to undertake the reform of fundamental education, the teaching experts in China advocate the application of task-based language learning in English classrooms in the newly-issued New Curriculum Standard.This thesis is intended to discuss the application of task-based English-speaking class in five-year foreign languages normal schools. Chapter1 provides a general introduction of TBL including its definition and research on it. Next to it, there is the significance of establishing task-based speaking classroom in five-year foreign languages normal schools. Chapter2 attempts to deal with the application model of task-based speaking lessons after the introduction of the theoretical background and patterns of TBL. Apart from the discussion upon feasibility of establishing task-based English speaking classroom in theory, in chapter 3 a case study is presented according to the oral English teaching practice in Dongwu Foreign Languages Normal School. Then, in chapter4 some teaching suggestions are advanced on the basis of the data analysis in the previous case study. The last chapter draws the conclusion that TBL brings effectiveness to oral English teaching in five-year foreign languages normal schools.
