A Study On The Character Families Of The Pictophonetic Characters In "Ren(人)" Part Of Shuowenjiezi(说文解字)

The thesis tries to do some textual research on the basis of tidying up the scattered materials on cognate words of the same phonetic sign in "ren(人)"part of shuowen in ancient Chinese books,so as to discuss the phenomenon that the phonetic signs of the pictophonetic characters can indicate the origins of the pictophonetic characters.The thesis is composed of seven parts.The preface ,its main contents include five aspects.The first is to briefly review the history of the study of the character families of the pictophonetic characters. The second is to point out the studing scope and purpose.The third is to point out the studing means.The forth is to point out the studing value.The fifth is to explain the quantity of the pictophonetic characters in "ren(人)"part of shuowen.Chapter 1,the character families of the pictophonetic characters that the etymological meaning is the original meaning of the phonetic sign.There are 24 batteries. Chapter 2, the character families of the pictophonetic characters that the etymological meaning is one sememe of the phonetic sign 's original meaning.There are 11 batteries. Chapter 3, the character families of the pictophonetic characters which the etymological meaning is the transferred meaning of the phonetic sign.There are 20 batteries. Chapter 4, the character families of the pictophonetic characters that the etymological meaning is the borrowing meaning of the phonetic sign.There are 21 batteries. 8 of them , the borrowing meaning of the phonetic sign is used in ancient books; 13 of them, the borrowing meaning isn't used in ancient books. Chapter 5,summaries the characteristics of the character families of the pictophonetic characters in "ren(人)"part of shuowen,and disscusses the orign-indicating function of the phonetic sign. Conclusion,discssses the complexity and difficulty of the studying on the origin-indicating function of the phonetic sign of the pictophonetic character, and point out the achievements and weaknesses of this thesis.
