Social intelligence is a widely used social competence. Basis on the review of the literature, we put forth an operation definition of social intelligence: Social intelligence is a competence of the subject to understand the social environment and social relationships, as well as live in harmony with it, with which to be able to express themselves and to achieve self-realization, it is a multi-dimensional, multi-level psychological systems.According to the previous research results, through interviews and open-ended questionnaire survey, after initial measurement, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, We have developed a Social Intelligence Scale for College Students(SISCS) which in constituted by the social cognitive, social skills and social maturity three sub-scales. Statistical analysis showed that the social intelligence questionnaire has good reliability and validity.In the present study conditions, we draw the following conclusions:1. Social intelligence of College Students is a multi-dimensional multi-level psychological system. According to the different basic elements of the social intelligence, we have social intelligence divided into three areas :social cognition, social skills, social maturity . Social cognition with "social information and knowledge," "self-awareness," "interpersonal perception" three dimensions, social skills with "routine transaction processing skills," "interpersonal skills" "Contingency skills" "social value contribution" four dimensions, social maturity, with "independence" "social affinity" "social experience" three dimensions.2. We made an investigation of 1020 college student from 6 colleges,3 provinces. The collected data analysis results show that the scale has good reliability and validity to achieve the initial construct validity, strong stability, which can reflect the general state of social intelligence of College Students. And can be served as a measurement tool for social intelligence.3. The results showed that gender, grade, professional and other demographic variables are significantly different on a number of dimensions of social intelligence. On the whole, social intelligence of College Student has shown the characteristics of diversity and difference.4. General intelligence of College Students is related significantly to social intelligence and its various dimensions, but the correlation coefficients are not high. This shows that there is common load between Social intelligence and general intelligence, but they are not the same psychological characteristics.
