As an unusual social phenomenon, homosexuality attracts many scholars from domestic and overseas to do research in recently years, and with the continual gay rights movement, more and more attention was paid closely on this field. But in my point of view, scholars are always hunting for novelty during their research. Even literature, which is usually supposed to be a unique field, focuses on their love stories instead of noticing that they are gays. Pro. Li Yinhe, who is one of the most famous social scholars in this field provided great support to this group as well as clarified the factors about the homosexual. The foreign scholars did much better while turning their attention from group behavior, AIDS prevention to gay culture and family socialization. In this context, with the hope of doing some research about their culture through case study in Xi'an, I chose one of the gay bar to do my fieldwork as a waitress, and I had deep investigation about nearly 50 gays here by making use of anthropological fieldwork methods such as interview, participant observation, etc.In the introduction, i comment and criticize the current research findings both domestically and oversea, defining the related concepts and research methods as well as evaluating the innovation and the deficiency. The first chapter introduces the general situation of gays in the city of Xi'an while also describing their characteristics in many other cities. In Xi'an, they have six places to keep in touch with each others. In the second chapter, i describe the Y bar which I have been working in and the persons there. In the third quarter, i draw the outline of how they contact with other gays,. And then, i interpret their marriage status in the fourth quarter while in the fifth quarter i describe the religious in detail. The third chapter is the key chapter, in which i summarize their identity and cultural identity, introducing the ways in which other people looking at them. The epilogue part describes their cultures.Which I figure out in conclusion part is that, as a type of subculture groups, gay group have their own characteristics, which behaviors in the same way with other people except sex sexual orientation. The fact that they love boys dues to objective reasons rather than selectable ones, so, the majority should accepts them and treats them understandingly.
