As the special group of the urbanization process, the rural left-behind children has greatly drawn nationwide attention. The academic community's study has refer to many subjects such as pedagogy,psychology,demographic and anthropology. This research which combines the theory of socialization in sociology with the theory of personality development in psychology , has introduced the conception of social adaptation. With series of investigation we find some characters of rural left-behind children's social adaptation on their family adaptation,school adaptation and self-awareness adaptation, then do attribution analysis. At last , we also put up some countermeasure to promote the capability of rural left-behind children's social adaptation in lushan county.Through the questionnaire investigation with interview of 297 left-behind children and 75 non-left-behind peers of the lushan county in henan province, the results of the investigation shows: there are some maladjustment in the aspects of family adaptation,school adaptation and self-awareness adaptation , such as insufficient communication with caregivers,seriously polarization in study,low self experience and easy to feel anxious,self-abased,sensitive and so on. But on the whole, rural left-behind children are not the inferior students or Problem Children just as what the media report said. There are no obvious differences between left-behind children and non-left-behind peers. This paper is composed of 5 chapters.The first chapter is the introduction. It mainly discusses the subject of this study, the purpose and meaning of this study,the methods and process of this study , rationales and what we can draw inspiration from them.The second chapter is the overview in the social adaptation of rural left-behind children. It mainly discusses the concept of rural left-behind children, social adaptation and the related literature review on them.The third chapter is the empirical research of the rural left-behind children in lushan county. It mainly discusses how to select respondent and how to conduct the survey, and then show essential information the sample.The fourth chapter is the results and its attribution analysis. In this part we mainly analysis the survey data from family adaptation,school adaptation and self-awareness adaptation, then do our attribution analysis from the aspects of social environment, family environment, school environment and personal factors.The fifth chapter is some countermeasure to promote the capability of rural left-behind children's social adaptation in lushan county. It mainly includes taking true judgment of left-behind children's condition , it means not only to intensify parents'sense of responsibility in child-rearing and family education, but also to display the rural left-behind children's subjective initiative; giving full play to the school education function; Increasing financial investment to compulsory education; the intervention of social wokers.The epilogue of this paper: it points out the shortcomings of the research.
