With the rapid development of China's industrialization and urbanization,a large number of left-behind children have emerged in rural areas.The mental health problems of left-behind chil dren in rural areas have become the focus of attention of governments,society and families at all levels.How to promote the mental health development of left-behind children has important resear ch significance.Related studies have shown that physical exercise can promote the mental health o f left-behind children,but the effects of different sports methods and methods deserve further study.In the context of China's vigorous development of "campus football",this study uses football gam es as an intervention method to explore the impact on the general social adaptability of left-behind children,and provide reference for the left-behind children to improve their mental health.Participants: The rural left-behind children(11-13 years old)in the first grade of a middl e school in Puyang City,Henan Province were selected as research objects.The experimental grou p and the control group were three classes.50 rural left-behind children were randomly selected fr om the three classes,25 males and 25 s were used as research objects.The physical intervention o f the experimental group and the control group were carried out in the whole class.Using the bli nd method,the study subjects and the physical intervention implementation teachers were unaware of the experimental group and the subjects included in the class.2 times a week,45 minutes each time,for a total of 16 weeks.No subjects in the two groups withdrew.Before and after the exp eriment,the students' physical health indicators and general social adaptability were measured.The physical fitness indicators and evaluation of the students adopted the national physical health stan dards,including vital capacity,50-meter fast running,800 m/1000 m,sitting position flexion,standi ng long jump;general society should Competencies include life satisfaction,loneliness,depression,self-esteem,and social anxiety.Some left-behind children were selected for interviews,and the inte rview results were qualitatively analyzed.The main content was the mental health status of left-be hind students and their feelings about football games.The results of the study:(1)Compared with before the experiment,the physical health indicators of the experimental group were significantly improved(P<0.01);the life satisfaction and self-esteem of the boys and girls in the experimental group were significantly improved(P<0.01).The levels of depression an d social anxiety were significantly lower(P<0.01);the level of loneliness in boys did not change significantly(P>0.05),while the loneliness of girls was significantly higher than that before the ex periment(P<0.01).(2)After the experiment,compared with the control group,the 1000 m of the male stud ents in the experimental group and the 800 m of the female students were significantly lower than the control group(P<0.01);there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).The life satisfaction of male and female students was higher than that of the control group(P<0.01);the social anxiety of male students in the experimental group was lower than that of the contr ol group(P<0.05);the loneliness of female students was significantly higher than that of the contr ol group(P<0.01);There were no significant differences between the groups(P>0.05).(3)The interview results show that left-behind children have different levels of mental he alth problems,and physical intervention can improve their mental health to some extent.The result s of research on football game sports interventions show that boys show their love for football ga mes and improve their mental health.However,most girls think that football games cause physical discomfort after exercise and think it affects learning.Conclusions: Football games can effectively improve the physical health and mental health of left-behind children in rural areas,but exercise patterns and gender differences are important fa ctors to consider when implementing sports intervention methods.
