Risk-based Inspection Technology is to find the main problems and the weakequipments, determine the levels of risk and then optimize the inspection frequency andmethods based on the risk analysis from the view of safety and economic points ofinspection and management action by the qualitative or quantitative analysis andassessment of the natural system or potential risk and its consequences. It is to greatimportance to perform inspection work based on RBI for long life cycle, security, stabile,economic operation of unit.This artical introduces the basic theory and its implementation of RBI. And take itinto the waste heat boiler system. The probabilities and consequences were calculated,and risk matrix was adopted to estimate the risk levels of each component quantitatively.Also the damage factors were analyzed. Based on risk analysis, the inspection planworked out, that was high and medium high risk level components were performed moremonitoring and inspection methods and low risk ones were inspected randomly.Through the analysis for heat boiler system, RBI Technology can guarantee thesafety operation by taking more monitoring and inspection methods to high or mediumhigh equipments and bring the considerable benefits for the enterprise.
