With the rapid development of modern industry, especially the automotive, applianceindustry and other enterprises have extremely strictly requirements the surface quality ofcold-rolled sheet, sometimes even non-defective plates.However, the vibration mill is a majorfactor affecting the surface quality of the sheet, therefore, people are more and more attentionon phenomenon of milling vibration in plate production process and bringing significantquality defects of plate surface. According to the chatter phenomenon of3rdstand of asteelworks’ six-roller tandem cold mill (TCM),this paper makes preliminary research anddiscussion for its causes, hazards, and other aspects of the main factors.Based on data provided by the factory,three-dimensional model of mill is built by usingthree-dimensional CAD modeling software.Modal analysis of the various components wasmade by finite element analysis software’Ansys Workbench’, and influence of millequipment was obtained under different modes of vibration.At the same time, main vibrationmode of3rdstand rolling mill system was obtained by applying mechanical system dynamicssimulation software’ADAMS’. Meanwhile, based on a flexible multi-body dynamics theory,this paper built flexible body dynamics model of1700mm cold rolling mill by applyingthree-dimensional ‘CAD’ software SolidWorks, finite element analysis software ‘ANSYS’,and mechanical system dynamics simulation software ‘ADAMS’, made simulation on verticalvibration phenomena of six-roll mill system, eventually and researched the impact of differentprocessing parameters on vertical vibration of mill system.With the means of the modal coordinates, the modal of the greatest mainly modalcoordinates influencing on vertical vibration of rolling mill were found, which reveal that thismill vibration might occur a fifth octave chatter and have the influence on the quality of theplate’surface. At the sane time,we made the research of different processing parameters andgained:along with rolling force, broadband and tension increasing, rolling mill’s vibrationamplitude increases; while system damping increases, the rolling mill’s vibration amplitudedecreases. Among the rolling parameters, it is contribute to suppress the rolling vibrationthrough increasing the system damping, while the most important factor that affect therolling mill vibration is rolling mill tension, which is because there is90degree phasedifference between the tension and vibration displacement of rolling mill that result innegative damping system of vertical vibration of rolling mill.This paper made a elaborately simulation on phenomena of vertical vibration of six-rollmill system,found that this mill may occur vibration type and researched influence of differentprocess parameters on the vertical vibration mill system, which provided some theoreticalbasis for restraining mill vibration.
